Elon Musk Calls AI Agent Grok Bot's Upkeep Too Expensive
This follows user complaints that their weekly limits were exhausted faster than usual

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk called the costs of operating the AI agent excessively high relative to revenue after users complained about their weekly limits being exhausted ahead of schedule. He wrote on X that maintaining Grok Bot is "unsustainably expensive" for the company compared to its earnings.
SpaceX launched Grok Bot in August. The AI agent uses a virtual computer to perform tasks on behalf of a user, including purchases. Subscription plans range from free to $200 per month, with limits resetting every week.
According to SpaceX, Grok Bot has 800,000 paying users per week. The company also announced the inclusion of the agent in the $8 per month X subscription, alongside X Premium features and the Cursor programming platform.
