Uzbekistan to Receive Over €100 Million for Land Restoration and Agricultural Development
The UN Green Climate Fund will also provide support to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan
Under the regional program 'Climate-Resilient Landscapes in Central Asia' (CLiCA), Uzbekistan is allocated €103.7 million. The funds will be directed toward forests and pastures, climate-resilient solutions for the agricultural sector, and expanding farmers' access to adaptation financing.
The program aims to strengthen climate risk protection for 342,000 people. Sustainable management practices will be extended to 164,000 hectares of forest, pasture, and agricultural lands. Additionally, a reduction in emissions and an increase in greenhouse gas absorption by 1.07 million tons of CO₂ equivalent are expected.
Priorities include the protection of natural ecosystems, sustainable land use, and assistance to local communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
