Uzbekistan and Germany to Expand Cooperation in Veterinary Medicine and Livestock Farming
In particular, a German Agricultural Center may be established in the country
From January to September 2026, mutual trade in agricultural and food products amounted to $61.3 million.
Prospects for cooperation were discussed by the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, with a delegation from Germany. The delegation included German Ambassador Matthias Vollert and Martina Englhardt-Kopf, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Regional Identity of Germany (BMLEH).
Among the proposals are the creation of a German agricultural center under the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture (AKIS), financing mechanisms for farmers, and the application of German agricultural lending models. Participants also considered a regional platform for technological exchange among Central Asian states.
Additionally, a training and practical center is being developed in collaboration with the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences. The project may include a complex for housing 200 head of cattle and a 50-hectare experimental field. Potential cooperation with the Julius Kühn Institute and the University of Hohenheim will focus on soil, water-saving, and digital agricultural technologies.
